We are delighted to be welcoming Nick Ridley, renowned gun dog trainer and photographer, to the ground for an afternoon of training and demonstrations.
Nick has over 30 years of experience working with gun dogs, and now runs one of the highest profile and most respected dog event photography businesses in the country.
Nick has kindly agreed, along with his lovable and charming cocker spaniel Ted, to show us some of his training techniques and demonstrate how to work with gun dogs from the puppy stage right through to training a more mature dog.
Sunday 20th October
The afternoon will start at roughly 2pm.
Guests can gather in the lodge for tea and coffee, and then we will introduce everyone to Nick before heading onto the ground to start the demonstration.
Nick will explain and demonstrate how he uses a place-board to start the training process with puppies, and then show how it can be used with a more mature dog. He will also discuss how to teach dogs to take the line of a runner and other important aspects of training which are often overlooked.
Guests are encouraged to ask questions during the demo and highlight any issues they may be having with their own dogs. Nick can then offer advice and guidance on how to progress.
The afternoon will end at around 5pm, with refreshments being served back in the lodge.
*Please note, although dogs are always welcome at the ground, we do ask that you leave them at home for this demonstration. Nick is very happy to discuss any particular problems with owners, but when training a dog he doesn't know, a one to one session is much more useful.
This event is completely free, but spaces are limited and pre-booking is required.
