Get to know our Sponsored Shooters

Here at AGL we sponsor a selection of individuals that are passionate about the sport of clay pigeon shooting. We believe that a little extra support from us can help these talented shooters achieve their sporting goals.

Meet Doug, who started shooting in 2010 and made the jump from competitive motocross to clay pigeons. Doug started shooting when his best friend introduced him to CPSA registered shoots and now enjoys the competitive element of shooting, competing not only against other shooters but also the targets themselves and constantly pushing himself to improve. His aim for 2019 is to achieve AAA classification and the whole AGL Team are right behind him!

Name: Doug Thompson

When did you start shooting?

I've been shooting since 2010 and started competing in 2011.

Why did you start shooting?

I had been competing in motocross events for many years at a high level but the injuries had started to take their toll. My best friend was shooting registered events at the time and took me out one day to show me what it was all about... I loved it! Eventually I made the decision to switch sports.

What do you enjoy most about shooting?

There are so many aspects associated with shooting that I enjoy, but if I had to pick one it would be the competitive element of the sport. I love to compete and test myself against both the targets and the competition.

What is your biggest achievement in shooting so far?

I think my background in racing has definitely helped me achieve some success reasonably quickly at registered level, including individual high guns. I finished joint 3rd in AA at the Clay Shooting Classic in 2017, which is probably my biggest major success to date but I'm hoping there's more to come!

What are your goals for next year?

I've got a long way to go... I'm going to continue to work hard on improving all areas of my shooting. My biggest aim is to make AAA classification in Sporting and start shooting some more FITASC. I'm going over to the USA to shoot the Worlds so a good result there would be great.

I really want to give something back to the team at AGL and Lyalvale Express for all of their unbelievable support. Without their support my journey would be a lot harder.
