Game Recipes & Giving Back...

Christmas is a time of excess, to eat, drink and indulge. We treat ourselves to delicious food, and if you’re anything like me then you eat slightly more than you should. The festive period is also a time to reflect, especially heading into a new year, to appreciate how lucky we are and perhaps spare a thought for those less fortunate. The AGL Team and many of our customers are passionate about game shooting and field sports, but what if this love of the countryside could help people in need?

Have you heard about The Country Food Trust? Having already supplied over 500,000 meals, this charity is well on the way to achieving their target of feeding one million people in food poverty in their first five years.

The Country Food Trust is a charity that uses game meat to create nutritious meals, high in protein and low in fat, and then distributes them to other charities, feeding people in need.

Here at AGL one of our aims is to promote responsible shooting and hunting, and a vital part of this is the conscientious use of game meat. Our recent ‘From Field to Fork’ game prep demo showed our customers how to pluck and dress birds, and gralloch and butcher venison, preparing the meat for simple, delicious and healthy recipes. The Country Food Trust kindly supported this event and have offered us a range of fantastic recipe ideas for all of our customers.

We were also lucky enough to have support from BASC and Taste of Game. Game Changer BBQ (check out his Instagram, it's well worth a follow @gamechangerbbq) was on hand to cook up some tasty samples for our guests to try... game tacos, what's not to like?

The whole event was once again a fabulous success, with over 150 people of all ages attending.

We would like to thank everyone who took part and supported the event.
