• Do you need to be a member to shoot at the Atkin Grant & Lang Shooting Ground?

No, as a non member you can turn up and shoot, but we do offer membership which provides you with discounted prices every time you shoot and a range of special discounts including a free lesson or 100 clays when you join.

  • Do you need a shotgun licence to shoot at the AGL shooting school?

No, as long as you are either with a licence holder or booked in for a lesson.
If you have never shot before and have come for a “have a go” session for £40.00 you do not need a licence as you will be taken round by an instructor.
If you own your gun then we recommend that you have your licence with you when coming to the grounds.

  • Can I use my own cartridges when I shoot?

Yes, provided they are fibre wad cartridges and no larger than No7 shot size. If you do not have any you can purchase cartridges at the shop.

  • Is there an age limit when you can start shooting?

We recommend that no-one under the age 8 is allowed to shoot  as the child needs to be strong enough to hold a shotgun and to understand the important safety rules necessary to enjoy shooting.

  • I am a shotgun licence holder. Can I just turn up and shoot or have a lesson?

There is no need to book, you can just turn up and shoot. You can shoot each stand in your own time unaccompanied using the Promatic Claymate system.

If you require a lesson then you will need to book this before you arrive. Prices can be found under the 'Tarrifs' tab on our website

  • What is the Promatic Claymate system.

The Promatic Claymate system allows you to shoot each stand at your own leisure and not to feel rushed. The Claymate system counts the clays that are used but if you have any no birds or broken clays please just inform us when you return to the shop and we shall credit you for them.

The Claymate system gives you total control and you can repeat any shot on any stand until you have mastered it. We believe it gives you complete flexibility on how you want to shoot each stand and more importantly at your own pace.

  • Can I bring a friend to come and watch?

Yes we welcome people to come and watch but they will be required to wear the appropriate safety equipment that we provide.

  • What happens if it rains when I have booked a lesson? Do I get my money back?

No. This is England after all and clay pigeon shooting is an outdoor sport and unless the weather creates a danger to shooters we will always carry on.

  • Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. You must give us 48hrs notice if you are cancelling a booking, otherwise you will be charged

  • Can I go out and shoot unaccompanied?

Yes, providing you are a shotgun licence holder. We use the Promatic Claymate system which allows you the freedom to shoot unaccompanied. You can bring a firned to shoot with you, we allow two non-licenced shooters to one shotgun licence holder. Guns are available to hire from the shop.

  • What should I wear?

We advise you to wear sensible outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for the English weather. You will also need to wear a hat, eye and hearing protection when out on the ground. Hats, hearing protection and eye protection glasses are all avaliable from our shop.
